Coming off a tough home loss to the Kentucky Wildcats, Tennessee basketball hosts the Arkansas Razorbacks Tuesday night. Here is our Volunteers preview.

With the chance at the NCAA Tournament slipping away after a 77-64 loss this past weekend to the Kentucky Wildcats, Tennessee basketball takes the court again Tuesday. This is the second of a two-game home stand for the Vols.

The Arkansas Razorbacks head to Knoxville for a matchup between one team solidly in the postseason right now and another looking for a quality win to get into the conversation. Both are above .500, but they both have different reasons for needing to win this game.

A road win like this one for Arkansas would keep them firmly in the Big Dance. UT, meanwhile, at 13-10 overall and 5-5 in the SEC would get a crucial quality win if they came out on top Tuesday. Here is all the information you need for Tennessee basketball’s matchup.

Currently, Rocky Top is a bit banged up. Rick Barnes said on Monday that Josiah-Jordan James is day-to-day, and without him over the weekend, the Vols continuously failed to cash in on missed shots by UK and fast-break opportunities.

At 16-7 overall, Arkansas actually has a worse SEC record, as they come in 4-6 in league play. First-year head coach Eric Musselman has them in the top 30 of the RPI thanks to a solid strength of schedule. However, they did just suffer a bad loss to the Missouri Tigers on the road.

Because of that, Arkansas could easily slip to the NCAA Tournament bubble with a few more bad outings. The Vols, meanwhile, have multiple chances at quality wins coming up. After Arkansas, they get somewhat of a break by visiting the South Carolina Gamecocks and hosting the Vanderbilt Commodores.

But then they have a brutal road to end the season, including facing the Auburn Tigers twice, visiting Kentucky, hosting the Florida Gators, and facing Arkansas again, at which point it will be in Fayetteville. So while these teams are in different situations right now, Tennessee basketball could easily begin to close the gap with a win in this game.
