This is one of the most important parts of recruiting. Tennessee football has to make sure it addresses future needs given the state of the roster. In some cases, the Vols did that and even went beyond.
One example is wide receiver. UT lost Marquez Callaway, Tyler Byrd and Jauan Jennings. Meanwhile, Brandon Johnson and Josh Palmer are seniors this year. So what did they do? They added three wide receivers, two of whom are wideouts, and they also picked up three athlete commitments, one of whom is certain to play wideout.
On the other side, Jeremy Pruitt secured two defensive tackles. That’s probably an area he wished he did better on, as almost all the major defensive tackles on the roster this year will be seniors, but he still has a lot to be happy about with those two guys. Defensive ends is a bit tricky because they can play end or outside linebacker, but getting three is a big boost to the line as well.
Pruitt continued to add to the offensive line depth, he made sure to build up the linebacker depth with the three four-stars from Whitehaven in Memphis, and he’s got a couple more running backs for future bodies. So he did pretty well overall, and the Vols have almost fully restored their roster after it was wrecked a couple of years ago.
