6. Offensive Line: B

Number of commitments: 4

  • Will Albright

2-star; 6’2″ 200 pounds; Greeneville, Tenn.; Greeneville High School

  • Cooper Mays

4-star; 6’3″ 272 pounds; Knoxville, Tenn.; Knoxville Catholic High School

  • James Robinson

3-star; 6’4″ 330 pounds; Montgomery, Ala.; Carver High School

  • Javontez Spraggins

3-star; 6’3″ 300 pounds; East St. Louis, Ill.; East St. Louis High School

We almost had this unit ranked last place. After all, even with the returns of Trey Smith and Brandon Kennedy, both will be gone after next year along with Riley Locklear and Jahmir Johnson. However, Tennessee football scored big with the transfer of five-star guard Cade Mays, and that’s one more player Jeremy Pruitt has beyond this year.

In addition to Cade Mays, his brother Cooper Mays is a four-star, and he’s a center, so he almost immediately helps offset Kennedy being set to leave. Javontez Spraggins and James Robinson are both quality bodies as well, so that’s two more players to offset the two leaving.

Simply put, in terms of bodies, Pruitt has enough to replace everybody. When it comes to quality, there’s a slight drop-off, but it’s not much. Still, two three-stars and a two-star while only matching the departing talent forced us to keep this grade a B. Sure, it addresses needs, but Cade Mays isn’t factored into the recruiting class.

As a result, we have this unit at No. 6. But Jeremy Pruitt still has enough time to keep it rolling for the future, and we’re measuring it against trying to replace what could become a historically great line for Rocky Top this fall.
