Now we are in the A range. Tennessee football lost Daniel Bituli and Darrell Taylor this past year. They will lose Jordan Allen and Deandre Johnson next year. Well, Jeremy Pruitt secured four guys to offset the losses at linebacker. Of those four guys, he got three four-stars and one three-star. So it’s hard to really complain about the quality or the bodies.
Pruitt’s big win was securing three four-star linebackers all out of Whitehaven High School in Memphis. That trio of Martavius French, Tamarion McDonald and Bryson Eason is perfect for what he needs to do to offset what he’s about to lose.
We already mentioned Len’Neth Whitehead as a potential running back, and that makes this a slight drawback, which is why we gave the unit an A-. However, it’s always been more likely he’d play linebacker. Also, if Zachary Evans commits, all of a sudden Pruitt doesn’t even have to think about where to put each player.
Now, you can point out that there is a difference between inside and outside linebackers in Pruitt’s scheme. However, it’s worth noting that Pruitt openly said he would focus his recruiting on linebackers who could play all four slots, so while McDonald is currently listed as the one outside linebacker, Pruitt will be making sure all four can play all four positions.
