A continuing recap of the Tennessee Vols men’s basketball program’s major win Tuesday leads our Volunteers news for Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2020.

Well it was an interesting night to say the least. While the New Hampshire Primary had everybody on the edges of their seat, the Tennessee Vols men’s basketball team was running up the score in what turned out to be a dominant and surprising.

Our morning update on Rocky Top continues with the aftermath of that victory. It was a big enough deal to lead the way with our coverage for today. However, women’s basketball also has a big story with a particular athlete getting national recognition.

Speaking of recognition, the diamond also has some news. We have a recap in softball and another awards story in baseball to cover. So the court and the diamond is where today’s news is at. Let’s start with the court.

Rick Barnes discusses Arkansas win – Grant Ramey, GoVols247

Despite Josiah-Jordan James still being hurt, the Tennessee Vols men’s basketball team dominated the Arkansas Razorbacks 82-61 Tuesday night in a great offensive performance. With the win, they improve to 14-10 overall and 6-5 in the SEC, and the Hogs fall to 16-8 and 4-7 in the SEC. Here’s a bit of what Rick Barnes said about the win.

"“There’s no doubt once we settled in — we had a couple silly turnovers to start the game — from start to finish we were pretty good on both ends. Again, we knew they were going to continue to drive the ball at us hard. But we rebounded and when we needed a basket we had pretty good execution.”"

Softball completes win vs. ASU – UTSports

After Monday’s game to close out the Kajikawa Classic was postponed, the No. 12 ranked Tennessee Lady Vols softball team held onto its lead and secured an 8-5 win at the No. 22 ranked Arizona State Sun Devils Tuesday. They improved to 3-1 with the victory while Arizona State fell to 4-2 on the year.

"Tennessee went into the day with a 4-0 lead and had to rely on its pitching and infield to hold off a persistent ASU offense that came within one score in the bottom of the sixth. It marks the second consecutive win for the Orange and White over the Sun Devils and is the longest streak in the short series. UT won two in a row in a six-year stretch: 3-1 (9) in 2006 and 3-0 against a then No. 1-ranked Sun Devil team in 2012 in Tempe."
