4. Potentially affected recruiting results due to new role

Brian Niedermeyer is Tennessee football’s best recruiter, and he may be the best recruiter in the nation. However, he has been doing that in the capacity as the tight ends coach. Will his move over to inside linebackers coach affect his recruiting abilities? To be fair, this is more of an up in the air question than a concern, but it is a potential concern going forward.

What if inside linebackers coach requires more attention to detail than tight ends coach? Will that impact Niedermeyer’s ability to focus so heavily on recruiting, which he has been doing over the past few years? After all, tight ends was a role Pruitt just gave to Niedermeyer because he wanted him on staff as a recruiter. Maybe inside linebacker requires more focus.

There could be numerous other factors we don’t know about that alter his recruiting abilities. We’ll just have to keep an eye on this to see if he’s able to continue the high level of recruiting success he has had. This as an unknown factor, however, is why it’s the least important concern we are naming on here.

Of course, to be fair, this is obviously a potential positive for him as well. After all, Niedermeyer recruited multiple elite inside linebackers, most notably Henry To’o To’o and Quavaris Crouch, who can play all four positions. So this may work out in his favor to be able to coach them and recruit more top-notch talent at that level. This is just something we had to mention.
