Scouting Report. player. 839. Pick Analysis. Outside Linebacker. 4-star. Junior Colson. 3

As we mentioned earlier, Tennessee football needs to focus heavily on edge rushers. The Vols have no proven edge rushers heading into this year, and two of their four rotational outside linebackers are seniors along with all three defensive ends. So wherever they can get help there, they need to go for it.

An elite outside linebacker in the state of Tennessee would then obviously be somebody for UT to pursue heavily. Junior Colson is part of that Brentwood pipeline, coming out of Ravenwood Academy. And he would be a huge pickup for the Vols at outside linebacker. In fact, he’s a guy who could play immediately.

A four-star on Rivals, Colson is already 6’2″ 215 pounds and a top 80 player nationally. He is the No. 4 ranked player nationally at his position and the No. 2 ranked player in the state of Tennessee. So the guy clearly brings a lot of hype to the table, and he fills a role the Vols already need and will need more in the future.

Once again, Colson is an elite in-state prospect with no favorites and no predictions surrounding him according to the Rivals FutureCast, the 247Sports Crystal Ball. However, the Vols are the favorite by a majority on the Rivals FanFutureCast to land him, so they need to make sure they do whatever they can to not let him get away. He is too talented of an athlete.
