Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Wide Receiver. player. 3-star. Adonai Mitchell. 14. 839

Again, wide receiver is a clear position of need for Tennessee football. The Vols, as a result, should not miss out on in-state guys who bring some real talent to the table on that front, and Adonai Mitchell is one of those guys. A three-star on Rivals, Mitchell comes out of Cane Ridge High School Antioch, Tenn., which is in the Nashville area. Daniel Bituli was out of Antioch.

So the Vols clearly have a connection to that region. Anyway, Mitchell already has a great size at 6’2″ 190 pounds, and he is a top 50 wide receiver at his position. As a result, despite being listed as a three-star, he is barely that, and the 247Sports Composite ratings do have him as a four-star recruit, which is a very big deal.

UT shouldn’t have to try too hard to get him, but they can’t lose him either. The Vols are the unanimous favorite by the Rivals FutureCast and the favorite by a plurality in the FanFutureCast to land him, and they are the only team on his radar according to the 247Sports Crystal Ball.

Jeremy Pruitt was stronger in the state this year than past years, but he has put a heavier focus on the Memphis area since taking over. Getting a couple more Nashville area guys would be a big help, and Mitchell could be a big part of that.
