Tennessee football: Five biggest questions for Vols 2020 spring practice

March is here, and Tennessee football is about to begin spring practice. Here are the five biggest storylines surrounding the Volunteers.

In less than a week, spring practice for Jeremy Pruitt’s third season as head coach of the Tennessee football program will be underway. After such a strong finish to 2019 and then a top 10 recruiting class, there is understandably a lot of excitement surrounding the event.

Everybody wants to see what the Vols will begin to put on the field, and it starts with spring ball, which includes 15 practices and culminates with the Orange and White game on April 18. Expectations are high after an 8-5 record and six-game winning streak to close this last season.

The reality, however, is that there are questions. Tennessee football has to address a few things ahead of the season, and the spring is the perfect time to work them out. Some questions are standard, but others deal with potential concerns related to the program.

With UT set to start practicing soon, we’re going to analyze those biggest questions here. They are all among the most important storylines surrounding Rocky Top heading into 2020, and all of them will be things Pruitt can take a look at over the next month.

Of course, not everything will be answered, as the Vols have a whole new recruiting class set to arrive in the summer, and they also may have a new commitment in that class soon enough. But there are a few things that can be answered, and some of these questions, even if left up in the air, could be answered by the summer.

Simply put, these are just things that are on everybody’s mind as Big Orange Country gets set to practice, and they’re worth addressing here. So let’s go ahead and break them down.
