Tennessee basketball: Jordan Bowden, Lamonte Turner five best combined games with Vols
5. At Texas A&M Aggies 2018-2019
Tennessee wins 93-76
Jordan Bowden: 16 points; 4 assists; 2 rebounds; 1 steal; 1 block
Lamonte Turner: 19 points; 7 assists; 3 steals; 2 rebounds
They were in the midst of their second week as the No. 1 ranked team in the nation, the first time that had ever happened for a Tennessee basketball program. This was also their second road game in a row, after they had already beaten the South Carolina Gamecocks. The Vols had to make sure they did not slip up here.
Well, these two made sure of that. Grant Williams, to be fair, led the way with 22 points. Jordan Bone was also a star with 18 points and 10 assists, and Admiral Schofield had 14 points. But Jordan Bowden and Lamonte Turner got in on the fun. Each had seven points in the first half, and they helped make sure this game was a blowout.
Turner joined Williams to each score 12 points in the second half, and Bowden added nine. That’s how they got their stat line to combine for 35 points and dominate the Texas A&M Aggies. Off the bench, Bowden hit seven of 13 attempts, and he went two-of-seven from three. Turner, meanwhile, hit eight of 13 attempts and went three-of-six from three.
This was actually one of the best combined games by all the rotational players, but Turner and Bowden were part of that, so it belongs on the list as one of their top performances. They wanted to assure that UT would remain No. 1 for at least another week, and that’s what happened.
