In their final regular season game, Tennessee basketball hosts the Auburn Tigers on Senior Day. Here is our preview for the Volunteers.

Coming off a huge upset win at the No. 6 ranked Kentucky Wildcats, Tennessee basketball is back home for their last game of the regular season. The Vols will face the No. 17 ranked Auburn Tigers and their former head coach in Bruce Pearl in a rematch from two weeks ago.

Saturday marks the final home game for UT senior Jordan Bowden. He and Lamonte Turner, who had season-ending shoulder surgery back in December, will both be honored as the only two seniors in the program.

At 17-13 and 9-8 in the SEC, Rocky Top is hanging by a thread in the NCAA Tournament race, but this is another great chance at a quality win for them. Here is all the information you need for Tennessee basketball’s Saturday afternoon matchup.

Auburn heads into this game at 24-6 and 11-6 in the SEC. However, they are on a two-game losing streak, having lost last week at the Kentucky Wildcats and then suffering a shocking loss at home to the Texas A&M Aggies earlier this week.

Recently, the Tigers have been a thorn in the side for Rick Barnes’ program. Last year, they beat the Vols in the SEC Tournament championship game and in their last game of the regular season, costing them a share of the regular season title and the tournament title. The year before, Auburn’s win in Knoxville cost the Vols the SEC regular season title outright.

The last matchup between these two schools saw Auburn erase a 15-point deficit in the second half with an 18-0 run to beat the Vols at home. Given these losses, there is no doubt the Vols are looking for revenge, especially since this is once again a game with so much on the line.

A win here puts Tennessee basketball in strong position to make its NCAA Tournament case, as they would head into the SEC Tournament on a three-game winning streak, with 18 wins and a top 15 strength of schedule. They would probably have to hold their water in the postseason, but this would be a strong start for them. That makes this a crucial regular season finale.
