5. Jimmy Holiday will settle in at wide receiver.

As a three-star athlete known for his speed, Jimmy Holiday committed to Tennessee football with the potential to play one of three positions: Quarterback, wide receiver or defensive back. Holiday is officially listed as a quarterback starting out, joining fellow early enrollee Harrison Bailey, who is a five-star pro-style quarterback. As a dual-threat, Holiday brings another element.

However, Brian Maurer and Kasim Hill are both dual threats already on the roster. Although we mentioned the options Jeremy Pruitt has at wide receiver, he still needs as many bodies as possible to find talent. As a result, Holiday, at 6’0″ and under 200 pounds, will move over to wide receiver before spring practice ends.

Like Deangelo Gibbs, he could move over to defensive back as well. But our prediction is that Holiday is not physical enough to be able to play safety, and that’s why he’ll get a look at receiver. The guy has incredible speed and could be an immediate threat in the slot, where Jim Chaney has been looking to add some versatility ever since he arrived on Rocky Top.

By the time the quarterback rotation gets figured out, Holiday will be competing for a starting spot in that role. Transfers Miles Jones and Velus Jones Jr. could both be slot guys as well, but there’s no way of knowing just how they’ll turn out. Jeremy Pruitt needs more answers there, especially after our prediction that he’ll move Gibbs back to defensive back. This is where Holiday comes in.
