Tennessee loses 75-65

Thursday, Feb. 13, 2020

In the midst of that five-game losing streak, the Tennessee Lady Vols had three realistic chances at a second quality win. They had lost at the No. 1 ranked South Carolina Gamecocks first, and then they lost to the No. 8 ranked Mississippi State Bulldogs. While that game was at home, Rennia Davis was out with the flu, so this team had no real chance.

Their first realistic chance was at the LSU Tigers, their one quality win already to that point, as they two had met in Knoxville with UT coming away victorious. They were going for the sweep in this one, and entering the fourth quarter down by one point, they clearly had a great chance to pull off a quality road win.

However, LSU slowly pulled away in the fourth quarter. Using tough defense and solid three-point shooting, 49-48 turned into 62-54 at the five-minute mark. At that point, Rocky Top was never really able to get any closer, and their first real chance at a quality win on the road fell by the wayside, as they lost 75-65 in Baton Rouge.

Davis, who was back from the flu, was the only player to step up in this game. She had 19 points and six rebounds, finishing as the only player to score in double figures. That this loss also came after a week off only made it worse, as they should have been able to take advantage.
