Honorable Mentions

Lamonte Turner vs. Chattanooga Mocs

17 points, 12 assists, 1 steal; Tennessee wins 58-46

Although his shot wasn’t falling early on, Lamonte Turner showed signs that he had completed the transition to point guard, and that was on display in this game. In an ugly win for Tennessee basketball, he was the star with a double-double. Not only did he have 17 points and 12 assists, but he also only had one turnover, which made up for him shooting 25 percent from the field.

Jordan Bowden vs. No. 20 Washington Huskies (Toronto, Ont., Canada)

18 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals; Tennessee wins 75-62

At the time, nobody knew how bad the Washington Huskies would be. They were a top 25 team after all. In the James Naismith Classic game in Canada, an early November matchup, this was an early test for the Vols, and Jordan Bowden went off. He filled up the box score, as you can see above, and was highly efficient with no turnovers, three-of-five three-pointers.

John Fulkerson vs. Ole Miss Rebels

18 points, 10 rebounds, 3 steals, 2 assists; Tennessee wins 73-48

Double-doubles all deserve some love on this list, and we did our best to include those accomplishments of John Fulkerson. Team defense was how the Vols overall shut down the Ole Miss Rebels, but Fulkerson coming away with 18 points and 10 rebounds is worthy of mention, and his three steals were part of that elite defense. So this should be on here.

John Fulkerson vs. Florida Gators

22 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal; Tennessee wins 63-58

Not every 20-plus point game by John Fulkerson could get on here, and missing three of four free throws with an inability to fill the stats sheet on rebounds, as a post player, is why this one is kept off. However, Fulkerson hit a crucial three-pointer late, his only one of the season, to secure the win, and he did shoot 10-of-15 from the field, so his play still deserves credit.

Josiah-Jordan James vs. Florida Gators

12 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists, 1 steal, 2 blocks; Tennessee wins 63-58

Just like they did against the Kentucky Wildcats, John Fulkerson and Josiah-Jordan James were the stars the game before in a big win over the Florida Gators. James gave a preview of his breakout performance by filling the box score, as you can see above. He hit 50 percent of his shots from the field and 50 percent from three, and his six assists came with only two turnovers.
