Tennessee football: Vols WR Jauan Jennings’ five best NFL Draft landing spots
With Bill O’Brien making the decision to get rid of DeAndre Hopkins, there’s now an even greater chance of Jauan Jennings succeeding with Houston Texans, and it should make him want to go there in the 2020 NFL Draft even more. Given what Arian Foster did at the start of last decade, it’s clearly a place for former Tennessee football players to succeed.
Anyway, Houston’s offense with Deshaun Watson needs a couple of big weapons. Watson likes to extend plays with his mobility, and receivers with size and a great vertical help with that a lot, as they allow such quarterbacks to make a few more desperate throws. On that front alone, Jennings is a great fit, and he would work under an offensive mind in O’Brien.
Speaking of O’Brien, the guy is clearly willing to look at undervalued receivers and go after them, and Jennings clearly fits that mold. Then there’s the actual personnel of the Texans. They made a splash by signing Cooks, offsetting the release of Hopkins. What that means, though, is Houston is built on excessive speed right now at receiver.
Lots of speed and no size there with a mobile quarterback throwing the ball makes Jennings an even greater need. Finally, they won’t have much room to find the most highly-touted guys, as nearly half their draft picks are in the seventh round. As a result, there’s a strong chance they’ll give Jennings a real look, and he would do well there. So this is a great spot for him.
