Tennessee football: Vols LB Daniel Bituli’s five best NFL Draft landing spots
Okay, so there’s one thing working against Daniel Bituli here. The Los Angeles Chargers have been a model of incompetence for decades, which is why Phillip Rivers never won a ring there. This is the organization, after all, that traded up to get Ryan Leaf, who was drafted one pick after Tennessee football legend Peyton Manning. That’s who we’re talking about.
However, given the needs in LA, Bituli would still be a very good fit out there. As we said was a criteria in our opening slide, the Chargers have a need for both a linebacker and an edge rusher. Bituli’s best chance at making a roster and becoming a full-time player is going to a franchise that has an opening for both, as he could fill both roles.
Now, Joey Bosa and Melvin Ingram are both there right now, but both are free agents in 2021, and the Chargers likely will have to get rid of at least one of them. LA running a 4-3 is one thing that could work against Bituli, as he would make more sense being an edge rusher in a 3-4, but the need for both is still good for him.
Also, Chargers defensive coordinator Gus Bradley specializes at the linebacker position. As a result, if Bituli truly does have NFL potential, Bradley will recognize that, even if the Chargers themselves are an incompetent organization overall. The combination of a decent coach and the needs on this defense make the Chargers a solid NFL Draft landing spot for Bituli.
