Tennessee football in 2020 NFL Draft: Ranking eight Vols as pro prospects
Not many players are gone from 2019, but Tennessee football still has realistic pro prospects. Here is how those Volunteers rank ahead of the NFL Draft.
It’s the week of the NFL Draft, which will be held virtually amidst coronavirus. After nobody taken last year, Tennessee football lost fewer players than any time in recent memory, which would suggest they would repeat that failure.
However, the Vols, as we have mentioned numerous times, did lose some key players to graduation. Among everybody gone, nine could technically be selected this weekend. That’s an extremely low number.
Okay, so Tennessee football won’t come close to nine. We’re just naming all the players who have left the Vols and would technically be able to be taken in the NFL Draft when it’s held. Of those nine, eight have realistic pro prospects.
Linebacker Landon Knoll, who walked on in 2015 and only saw action on special teams without racking up any stats, is the one player who doesn’t have a realistic chance at making a pro roster. However, there’s at least a small chance for the other eight. In this post, we’re going to rank them by the chances they have.
Again, this isn’t a ranking of where we think they will go in the draft or even if we think they will be drafted. This is solely a ranking of the players based on who has the best chance to succeed at the next level, not factoring in the franchises they go to and the personnel they are dealing with.
Five of these players were invited to the NFL Combine, and six could potentially be taken this weekend, although it’s likely that will only be the case for two or three of them. Seven of them were starters at their positions, though.
So let’s see what their chances are and analyze where their NFL Draft standing should be. This is our ranking of Tennessee football’s eight prospects who have a realistic chance to make a pro roster based on their NFL potential.
