Tennessee football: Vols WR Marquez Callaway’s five best NFL Draft landing spots
Although New England is looking at receivers since they’re moving on from Tom Brady, Marquez Callaway would also do well to play for an established veteran looking to win a Super Bowl. As a guy who makes plays in open space and can double as a return specialist, he wouldn’t be a bad fit for a team that already has championship pieces in place.
With the addition of Philip Fivers, the Indianapolis Colts are that franchise. They need multiple receivers, and Frank Reich has proven that he loves speed guys in his passing game, even if he does also value size. As a result, Callaway would be a perfect late pick for this team in the NFL Draft. It’s clearly a place where former Tennessee football players thrive.
This is actually the perfect situation for Callaway because he would also be able to grow with a young team after making a run this year, and in that case, Reich would still give him a look. Remember, Rivers will likely be done after this year. So Callaway has a chance to work with a proven veteran and then develop with new personnel.
Some even better news for Callaway is that while the Colts return their leading punt returner, Nyheim Hines, they lost Chester Rogers, who would spell Hines. As a result, Callaway could provide some help on special teams, even if it wouldn’t be much given how good Hines is. Still, Hines’ contract is up after 2021, so Callaway could step in after that.
