Houston Texans. 4. team. 10. . .

Of all the teams on here, the Houston Texans have less of a need for an edge rusher than anybody else. However, they still have a need there. It is one of their priorities, and they don’t have a first-round pick, so if they look at one later in the NFL Draft and Darrell Taylor is still on the board, he is definitely a guy they will want to take.

Helping Taylor out is the fact that he will have a major advocate. Chris Rumph is now with Houston, and he was Tennessee football’s outside linebackers coach each of the past two years. As a result, nobody knows what Taylor can do better than him, and that late in the draft, he’ll have a lot of credibility to be able to take guys he likes.

With Whitney Mercilus still there and J.J. Watt up on the line, Taylor also fits the profile of what the team is looking for, as he wouldn’t have the pressure to perform immediately. That’s perfect. He needs a year or two to develop while still being effective, whether it be up on the line or at linebacker, and there are multiple spots available for him in Houston.

Similar to Buffalo, the Texans run a multiple defensive set, but it’s based out of the 3-4. That’s more conducive to Taylor’s game, and the multiplicity of it can be helpful. Also, like Buffalo, Houston not needing an outside linebacker to take over immediately is a help. Bill O’Brien’s team just gets the advantage because of Rumph.
