Nigel Warrior. 5. player. 26. Scouting Report. Safety. Baltimore Ravens (UDFA). Pick Analysis

By far the most overlooked Tennessee football prospect in the NFL Draft, Nigel Warrior was the only safety who scored high on Pro Football Focus against the pass and the run last year, and he had four interceptions for the Vols. But he wasn’t even invited to the NFL Combine.

Although the 6’0″ 190-pound prospect deserved way more respect than what he got, it was clear he wouldn’t get drafted given his lack of invitation. Where he signed made all the difference, and to be fair to him, he may have landed a solid spot. If there’s a franchise for a defensive player to be seen, it’s the Baltimore Ravens.

The release of Tony Jefferson means these guys do have an opening at the position, and the only safety they took in the draft was Geno Stone of the Iowa Hawkeyes. They took him in the seventh round, so Warrior will definitely have a fair chance to compete for a job. Add in the fact that Warrior can play nickel, which the Ravens use a lot of, and he’s got a great shot in Baltimore.

Warrior has some connections to the franchise as well, as his father, former Vol Dale Carter, finished his career in Baltimore in 2004 and 2005. Still, he wasn’t drafted, and teams don’t know enough about him to be that invested. Add in the fact that they still have Earl Thomas locked in, and Warrior has some work to do.
