Tennessee football’s top five place kickers in history

When it comes to production, Fuad Reveiz is the opposite of Ricky Townsend. The numbers say he’s Tennessee football’s best kicker ever. Reveiz has made the most field goals in school history with 71, he has the longest field goal in school history, of 60 yards in 1982 against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, and he has the most made field goals in a season with 27 in 1982.

We should also note that Reveiz is one of three players in UT history, the other two being Alex Walls and Alan Duncan, to make five field goals in a game. However, Reveiz did it twice in 1982, against the Kentucky Wildcats and Memphis State Tigers. In the Memphis state game, he made two field goals beyond 50 yards, three beyond 40, and didn’t miss any of them.

Taking all of that into account, he should probably be higher on this list. However, Reveiz had the advantage of kicking off a tee throughout his whole career. That was allowed in college football at the time, and him not being able to have the highest place-kicking percentage in school history with that advantage is actually a pretty big knock against him.

Still, Reveiz belongs on this list, and he proved he could be a great kicker without a tee just fine once he went to the pros. After all, he made a Pro Bowl in 1994 and spent 11 years with three different teams at that level.
