9. 839. Kicker. 1981-1984. Fuad Reveiz. player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis

It’s tough to determine who the best kicker in Tennessee football history was. Fuad Reveiz had the best statistical season ever in 1982 and the best statistical career as a four-year starter. However, he had the advantage of using a tee when he kicked field goals, which is why we often give the edge to kickers who played in the 1990s and beyond.

However, nothing can change the fact that Reveiz was probably the best kicker during Johnny Majors’ tenure. He hit a school record 27 field goals in 1982 and 71 overall for his career, and he also made the longest field goal in SEC history from 60 yards out. With a 74.7 percent conversion rate, his elite status can’t be denied, so we have to put him on this list.

Because of that, we couldn’t ignore putting him on the list. Other kickers had tees in the 1980s, but they didn’t do what Reveiz was able to do. He also proved he was legitimate by becoming a 10-year NFL player and a Pro Bowler. As a result, there was no fluke in his high levels of production in college, and that 1982 season alone would be enough to put him on here.

The crazy part was he almost went to junior college. Majors took a chance on him late because he seriously needed help in the kicking game, and he stuck with Reveiz despite a really rough first season. As a result, Reveiz’s success has as much to do with the way Majors believed in him as anything, and that’s another tribute to his greatness as a head coach.
