Here are the 10 best Tennessee football JuCo Volunteers ever.

Junior college transfers can be hit and miss. Throughout its modern history, Tennessee football has certainly seen a fair share of both. However, some of their best players over the past 30 years have turned out to be junior college stars as well.

Obviously, some transfers work out like Cam Newton and win national championships. However, there are multiple five-stars, even ones who committed to the Vols, who have amounted to nothing coming from those ranks. It appears to be actually harder projecting this talent than it is to project the guys coming out of high school.

Currently, there are multiple junior college transfers, particularly on the defensive line, who could make a major impact for Tennessee football in 2020. They’ll all be looking to join the ranks of elite transfers who have gone through Rocky Top.

Who makes up that list? In this post, we’re going to try to break that down by looking back on the greatest junior college transfers who ever played for the Vols. Some of these guys had personal issues that sent them to JuCo, and others were simply overlooked. All of them, however, turned into good players and sometimes great players for UT.

To qualify for this list, a player specifically has to have gone to junior college. Generic transfers, such as what Malik Jackson or Darwin Walker did leaving the USC Trojans and N.C. State Wolfpack respectively and going straight to the Vols, won’t count.

Also, our criteria looks at what they solely did at UT. Their performance at any other level, including the NFL, will be irrelevant, although if they were successful with the Vols, they were likely successful at other levels.

So which players had the productivity to fit that criteria? Where do they stand in Vol lore? Let’s go ahead and break all of that down here. These are Tennessee football’s 10 greatest junior college transfers in school history.
