839. Pick Analysis. Running Back. 2015-2016. Alvin Kamara. 10. player. Scouting Report

A five-star running back in Tennessee football’s 2015 recruiting class, Alvin Kamara’s arrival was a huge reason for so much hype behind the Vols entering Butch Jones’ third season. He was an all-purpose back set to join Jalen Hurd, a five-star power back, for the perfect one-two punch with Joshua Dobbs, a dual-threat, emerging in Jones’ spread offense.

Coming out of Norcross High School in Norcross, Ga., Kamara initially committed to the Alabama Crimson Tide in 2013 as a four-star, but he then left and and went to Hutchinson Community College in Hutchinson, Kan. for a year. That was where he burst onto the scene as a star, and he then joined Rocky Top just as they were about to hit their peak under Jones.

In 2015, Kamara immediately became a valuable asset with 989 yards from scrimmage, rushing for nearly 700 yards and averaging six and a half yards per carry in the process while catching 34 passes for 291 yards and scoring 11 total touchdowns, including one punt return touchdown. His production dipped a bit in 2016, as he had 988 yards from scrimmage and 13 total touchdowns.

Still, Kamara was a star for the Vols, and the only two years UT has finished in the top 25 dating back to 2008 just happen to be the two years he was there. Kamara would be higher on this list if he wasn’t so under-utilized while in Knoxville, particularly when Hurd transferred out midway through 2016. His pro career with the New Orleans Saints proved his greatness.
