He’s famous for the block that secured Tennessee football’s comeback win over the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in 1991. However, Jeremy Lincoln had a great run with the Vols. A member of the program from 1987 to 1991, Lincoln emerged as an elite defensive back his final two years, helping to win the SEC in 1990 and then earning All-SEC honors himself in 1991.
Because of his play, Lincoln fell to the third round of the 1992 NFL Draft. However, he didn’t see the field until 1993. That year, he appeared in every game and started half of them, making a splash with three interceptions and a pick-six. It was clear he was a special player who needed to be utilized on the field as much as possible.
By 1994, Lincoln was a full-time starting cornerback for Chicago at 5’10” 180 pounds, and he helped the Bears reach the NFL Playoffs that year. He became a journeyman player after 1995, spending the next five years with four teams and starting periodically, most notably starting half the 1999 season with the New York Giants.
Although he never did match the production he displayed in Chicago, Lincoln still had a solid run overall, appearing in 106 games and starting in 47 of them during an eight-year run from 1993 to 2000. That also included eight interceptions and over 200 career tackles. So there was enough production to put him on this list.
