Here is a look at tight end for the Tennessee football Volunteers’ 2021 recruiting class.

A huge focus of Jeremy Pruitt’s ever since taking over the Tennessee football program was making the Vols more physical at tight end. In his first year, he secured a commitment from four-star junior college transfer Dominick Wood-Anderson and three-star Jacob Warren.

In 2019, Pruitt built on that by adding three-stars Sean Brown and Jackson Lowe. Then he converted another one of his junior college commitments, Jordan Allen, to tight end while also converting Princeton Fant to tight end. Oh, and rising senior Austin Pope is still in the system.

As a result, even with the transfer of Eli Wolf last year and the departure of Wood-Anderson after 2019, Pruitt did not focus on tight end for Tennessee football’s 2020 class. That group had no tight ends committed.

Heading into this year, Pope is the favorite to start as a senior, but Fant and Allen are experienced players also in the system. Simply put, the Vols didn’t need to add a tight end to their top 10 class. But what about the future?

Well, that’s what this post is about. Amidst the extended dead period due to these unique times, we are continuing our evaluations of the Vols’ 2021 class by position. Today’s flavor is tight ends, a crucial position where Jim Chaney places a lot of value.

Last year, so much focus was on Wood-Anderson early that Chaney turned to other receivers to stretch the field. But his past shows he wants to use the tight ends a lot, and if he can make people respect the Vols’ entire offense, he’ll want to do that again in the future.

Each slide will focus on different things. We’ll first focus on the current commitments to the program. Then we’ll touch on the top prospects the Vols are still pursuing. Finally, we’ll look at other potential prospects before closing with a final take and a prediction. This is our evaluation of Tennessee football’s 2021 recruiting class at tight ends as the class currently stands.
