Honorable Mentions

Kivon Bennett; Edge Rusher; Redshirt Junior; Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

Opposite Darrell Taylor, Kivon Bennett and Deandre Johnson split time at edge rusher. Both could start this year, and Quavaris Crouch could see time there as well despite primarily being an inside linebacker. The competition is why Bennett is honorable mention, but the 6’2″ 235-pound product of St. Thomas Aquinas in Florida did have six tackles for a loss last year, so he has potential.

Paxton Brooks; Punter; Junior; Lexington, S.C.

As Joe Doyle’s backup for all of 2018, Paxton Brooks emerged as the starting punter while continuing his kickoff duties midway through 2019. Doyle has since transferred, so the 6’6″ 194-pound product of Airport High School in South Carolina is now the guy. He’s averaged 41.7 yards a punt for his career with six of 31 going beyond 50 yards and 12 being pinned inside the 20.

Trevon Flowers; Defensive Back; Junior; Atlanta, Ga.

There’s a chance Trevon Flowers joins Jaylen McCullough as Tennessee football’s two starting safeties for 2020. His season ended with a broken leg on an interception six games in last year, but the 5’11” 193-pound product of Tucker High School in Georgia has significant experience through two seasons. Provided he’s fully healthy, he has great potential.

Riley Locklear; Offensive Lineman; Senior; Huntington, W. Va.

Yes, there are two products of West Virginia on the Vols’ offensive line. Riley Locklear came out of Spring Valley High School, and although he may not start this year, he’ll be a key rotational guy at 6’4″ 286 pounds. He has proven he can play guard and center, so if he doesn’t take a redshirt, Jeremy Pruitt will rely on him heavily for depth.

Aubrey Solomon; Defensive Tackle; Senior; Leesburg, Ga.

After transferring from the Michigan Wolverines to Tennessee football, Aubrey Solomon got his eligibility waiver the week of last year’s season-opener. Now, the 6’5″ 315-pound product of Lee County High School in Georgia should stand out at a loaded position after nine starts, three tackles for a loss, two sacks, a fumble recovery and 28 total tackles, 10 of which were solo, in 2019.
