Sophomore. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. player. 839. Offensive Lineman. Wanya Morris. 3

Hometown: Grayson, Ga.

Getting back to the heart and soul of Tennessee football’s out-of-state pipeline, Jeremy Pruitt struck gold when he got Wanya Morris out of Georgia in 2019. A couple of injuries led to disputes across recruiting services about whether or not Morris should be a four-star or a five-star prospect, but last year should have put all those doubts to rest.

The 6’5″ 315-pound Grayson High School product was an early enrollee, and in spring practice, he had worked his way onto the First-Team of the depth chart. As a true freshman, he appeared in every game for the Vols, and by late September, he had firmly settled in as the program’s starting left tackle. In fact, he started 12 of 13 games at that position.

As the blindside tackle, Morris improved every game and was a huge part of Jarrett Guarantano’s play at quarterback improving. By the end of the year, despite all the five-star hype surrounding Darnell Wright, Morris was the star young offensive lineman on the team. He was another All-SEC Freshman and earned multiple Freshman All-American honors. Simply put, he was elite.

This year, Morris’ return is another reason for hype behind the Vols. He and Wright both figure to be the starting tackles, and they could work out on either side, but so far, Morris has proven himself as the top blindside tackle. His star production already and superstar potential can’t go unnoticed. Of all the freshmen from last year’s team, none enter 2020 with more hype.
