Tennessee football’s top 10 injury concerns for 2020
We know that Tennessee football is loaded at defensive tackle, but one of the reasons for that is the way Aubrey Solomon emerged last year. Initially from Georgia, Solomon transferred from the Michigan Wolverines and did not receive his eligibility until the week of the opener against the Georgia State Panthers. By the end of the season, he was one of the most productive tackles.
At 6’5″ 315 pounds, the product of Lee County High School in Leesburg, Ga. already has shown a tendency to regress from year to year due to injury. Solomon went from playing in all 13 games as a true freshman at Michigan to only appearing in five as a sophomore due to an undisclosed knee injury that ended up requiring surgery, according to reports then from MLive.
After joining UT, even as Solomon emerged last year, he got hurt late once again. Solomon missed the game against the Vanderbilt Commodores due to an injury he suffered against the Missouri Tigers, so he is also coming off an injury that occurred down the stretch of last year, which could be concerning for him going forward.
Taking all this into account, Solomon is a bit injury prone, and while the Vols are deeper on the line this year than they were last year, they still can’t afford to lose a guy like him. After three tackles for a loss, two sacks and a fumble recovery, he could burst onto the scene as a senior if he stays healthy. But he has to stay healthy.
