Inside linebacker

1. Henry To’o To’o; Sophomore

Last year, Henry To’o To’o was thrust into a leadership role with early injuries to Daniel Bituli. He wasn’t ready but developed over time, eventually earning Freshman All-American and Freshman All-SEC honors. To’o To’o then stepped up again amidst another Bituli injury in Tennessee football’s Gator Bowl win over the Indiana Hoosiers, and he finished with 72 tackles.

Now, with Bituli gone for good, To’o To’o enters his sophomore year as the play-caller for the defense. The 6’2″ 235-pound product of Northern California has the most hype of anybody entering their sophomore season on Rocky Top and maybe of anybody in general. He’s easily going to be the No. 1 linebacker in 2020.

2. Quavaris Crouch; Sophomore

When Jeremy Pruitt runs his 4-2-5, that second linebacker spot will come down to Quavaris Crouch and Kivon Bennett. Crouch is a guy with a ton of potential who played outside and middle linebacker last year, appearing in all 13 games.

The 6’2″ 241-pound product of Charlotte finished with 28 tackles and is a versatile athlete. He’s very physical and has a ton of athleticism. This year, Pruitt and Derrick Ansley will move him around on defense, and he will emerge to shine alongside To’o To’o.

3. Solon Page III; Redshirt junior

While Crouch and To’o To’o are the rising stars, the second backup linebacker for when Pruitt runs his 3-4 will come down to Solon Page III or J.J. Peterson. For now, the 6’2″ 218-pound product of Atlanta gets the nod due to his experience. After appearing in five games last year, he could see a larger role in 2020.
