Left tackle

Wanya Morris; Sophomore; 6’5″ 315 pounds; Grayson, Ga.

A third member of Tennessee football’s offensive line who earned Freshman All-American honors, Wanya Morris found himself last year at left tackle. He was much more ready to go than most true freshman linemen after standing out as an early enrollee in the spring, and by late September he was playing what is arguably the most important position on the line.

The product of Grayson High School in Georgia is likely to resume his role as the Vols’ starting left tackle this year. With more experience under his belt, Morris could blossom into a superstar this year. He was rated a five-star by many recruiting services back in 2019, although injury concerns kept him at a four-star on some. Those concerns, however, didn’t manifest themselves last year.

Right tackle

Darnell Wright; Sophomore; 6’6″ 340 pounds; Huntington, W. Va.

While Wanya Morris was the more ready freshman last year, Darnell Wright arrived on Rocky Top with more hype. The product of Huntington High School in West Virginia was the only unanimous five-star in the Vols’ 2019 recruiting class. However, since he wasn’t an early enrollee, he somewhat had to learn on the fly early in the year.

Still, Wright settled in at right tackle. He did battle some injuries down the stretch, but for the most part, he proved himself to be very solid. If he can stay healthy this year, he’s likely to take a major leap forward, just like Morris. Doing that could turn him into a superstar as well, and he has already shown he has the potential to be that.
