Tennessee basketball: Vols most likely to leave early in 2021

One of the most underrated additions on Tennessee basketball this year is Oregon Ducks transfer Victor Bailey Jr. The product of McNeil High School in Austin, Texas took a redshirt last year and will step into a key role with Rick Barnes this year. Despite how loaded the Vols are in the backcourt with their new recruits, Bailey is almost certain to be a key player.
In two years at Oregon, Bailey averaged just over seven points a game. However, he upped his three-point shooting from 36.4 percent to 39.8 percent, so he is deadly from beyond the arc. Barnes’ focus in developing him last year was almost certainly to turn him into a combo guard who could run the point.
With that profile, Bailey could follow in the footsteps of Lamonte Turner and Kevin Punter. However, he won’t develop that fully overnight, and he’s too undersized to be a highly-touted shooting guard prospect after his junior season. As a result, he’s not likely to get serious looks from NBA teams.
Now, we should not that Bailey is the first guy on this list who is almost certain to be in the two-deep rotation. That’s enough for us to say that, unlike the other guys, he is not a 100 percent no. But as a likely backup point guard, it’s very unlikely he ends up in the pros.
