The Daily Show host mentioned Tennessee football Volunteers fan when talking COVID-19.

With all the talk about coronavirus shutting down the season for certain conferences, The Daily Show host Trevor Noah brought it up on a recent episode. In the process, he specifically mentioned Tennessee football fans.

Whether or not he intended to or not, Noah actually appeared to show Vol fans in an accurate light. He could have down without the accent he put on when impersonating them, but it still landed nonetheless.

The joke was that people like Tennessee football fans would do anything to enjoy the college football season, even willing to watch games on the sun. Here is the clip of him discussing that in the context of the virus’ impact on the sport in general.

Let’s be honest. Debate about the virus aside, Vol fans really do think every year is going to be their turnaround year. And many would go to great lengths to follow their team, which is a positive when it comes to the passion of the fan base.

Honestly, everybody who knows Neyland Stadium knows that analogy even makes more sense. People do the best they can to avoid sitting behind the South End Zone since there is no shade on that side. The North End Zone truly is the “shady side,” and it brings a heck of a lot more relief.

What’s worse about this is 2020 may actually be the Vols’ year. They return so much talent and were looking forward to having a veteran quarterback and the most loaded offensive line in the SEC. Canceling the season would be such a letdown.

As a result, Noah’s right. Tennessee football fans believe, with some evidence, that this year will be their year, and that’s a big reason for them desperately wanting college football to happen. If it means ending up making some sacrifices, well, they may be worth it.
