The former Tennessee football Volunteers linebacker is back in the NFL with Los Angeles.

In what appears to be a great comeback story, former Tennessee football linebacker Daniel Bituli appears to be back with the team that cut him. He could now be in line to make the roster ahead of the start of the NFL season.

After signing with the LA Rams as an undrafted free agent back in April, Bituli was cut back on Aug. 1. However, the franchise reported that the rookie was one of two linebackers it had signed on Tuesday morning.

Joining Bituli as a Rams signee was linebacker Derrick Moncrief, who has spent the past three years in the Canadian Football League. The franchise also cut two players and announced these transactions on Twitter.

Not only did Bituli go undrafted, but he also took longer than most former Tennessee football players to ink a contract. That was due to a groin injury he was reportedly dealing with, and he had to be cleared medically before teams felt safe taking a chance on him.

Once Bituli was cleared, the Rams gave him a look. However, there was always cautious optimism behind him. After all, he missed the first two games of last year due to an injury and then got banged up in the final game of the year.

However, all these injuries appeared to be minor. Also, the 6’3″ 252-pound product of Nashville Christian High School in Nashville, Tenn. who is initially from The Congo is a proven talent when he is on the field.

It’s no secret that UT didn’t have any bad losses once Bituli returned to the field, and as he got healthier, his play got more elite. His combination of size, versatility, athleticism and intelligence are all extremely valuable.

Given all those variables, it’s great news for Tennessee football fans to see Bituli get signed. He was a leader for Rocky Top Jeremy Pruitt’s first two years and has proven what he can do. Provided he can stay healthy, he deserves a chance to prove himself at the next level.
