Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Grayson, Ga.. Wanya Morris. player. Sophomore. 8. 839

Offensive tackle

If we knew exactly where he would start, this would be a different story. However, it’s certain that Wanya Morris will be a starter for Tennessee football to open the season, provided he stays healthy. Last year, Morris played in all 13 games and started 12 of them, settling in at left tackle and earning Freshman All-SEC recognition in the process.

This year, there is speculation that Darnell Wright, who was the more highly-touted offensive lineman in the Vols’ 2019 recruiting class, takes over at left tackle. However, if that happens, the 6’5″ 320-pound product of Grayson High School in Georgia will just move over to right tackle. What’s certain, though, is that his floor is still starting.

Wright, meanwhile, has a floor of being in a rotation with K’Rojhn Calbert. Both appeared to alternate games at right tackle last year, so while Wright is the favorite to start, there’s still the chance that he loses that job. Nothing is guaranteed, and that’s why Morris is the one sure starter at offensive tackle for Rocky Top heading into the season.

Of course, the Vols are being overlooked at tackle in general because of all the hype behind their interior line, but with Morris and Wright both shining as true freshmen last year and Calbert becoming a breakout player, they have a great future here as well. Morris, at this moment, is the fact of that future.
