team. 50. . . . Detroit Lions. 4

Justin Coleman, Jalen Reeves-Maybin

These two were teammates with Tennessee football in Butch Jones’ first two years, 2013 and 2014. One has become a dramatic overachiever while the other has maintained a solid career since entering the pros. For the second straight season, they will be pro teammates on defense for this NFC North team. That’s what put the Detroit Lions on here.

Justin Coleman went undrafted after his senior year in 2014 and began to bounce around, but he has developed as a top nickel in the pros with the New England Patriots, the Seattle Seahawks and now the Detroit Lions. He landed in Detroit last year after signing a huge contract, and he figures to build on that this year.

Jalen Reeves-Maybin, meanwhile, was selected by Detroit in the fourth round of the 2017 NFL Draft and has become a reliable backup linebacker with the franchise. Entering the final year of his contract, he might step his game up with lots to prove. That could change things a lot. Coleman is already there, so they could make for an epic duo on defense throughout the season.

Assuming they both stay healthy, they could make Detroit move up the list pretty quickly if they produce at a high rate. Right now, both Coleman and Reeves-Maybin are guys who see the field in the defensive rotation but aren’t on there for every play. That’s why we have Detroit down here. However, that could definitely change, particularly for Reeves-Maybin.
