Tennessee football: Top 10 players Vol have to face in 2020
Senior; Oxford, Ala.
He’s not a preseason All-American, but K.J. Britt is one of the most dangerous linebackers in the SEC. He is the biggest reason that the addition of the Auburn Tigers to the Vols’ schedule made things so much more dangerous. While everybody talks about Gus Malzahn’s offense and what Bo Nix is able to do, Britt is easily the star of the team.
A 6’0″ 243-pound graduate of Oxford High School in Alabama, Britt had 93 total tackles last year, 37 of which were solo. He came away with two and a half sacks, two pass deflections and a forced fumble, but the real story was the fact that he had 10 tackles for a loss. The guy was a playmaker all over the field, and he will be a force to be reckoned with when UT travels to Jordan-Hare.
Britt wasn’t a starter yet when Tennessee football upset Auburn in 2018, so he only came away with one tackle. However, his 10 tackles for a loss came in 10 different games, so he spread out his production in a big way. That level of consistency will make him extremely tough for the Vols to handle, and they’ll have to deal with everything he can do.
Eric Gray and Ty Chandler bring a lot of promise to the Vols’ rushing attack, and the interior blocking is another positive there. Britt, however, knows how to overcome those things, and as a senior with a ton of experience, Rocky Top will have to always account for him.
