Florida Gators. player. 840. Pick Analysis. Quarterback. Kyle Trask. 4. Scouting Report

Redshirt senior; Manvel, Texas

Moving on to the quarterbacks and more people with the Florida Gators named Kyle, Dan Mullen may have the best signal-caller in the SEC this year. Kyle Trask is entering his redshirt senior season after a breakout campaign last year. It’s clear that Mullen made the right choice putting his faith in this guy after he had played sporadically in previous years.

Trask completed 237 of 354 passes, good for a completion rate of 66.9 percent, along with 2,941 yards, 25 touchdowns and seven interceptions. He averaged between eight and eight and a half yards an attempt as well, and he also had four more rushing touchdowns. So the guy was a star for the team in every way and will help it stay in national title contention.

A 6’5″ 240 pound graduate of Manvel High School in Texas, Trask rode the bench in two years under Jim McElwain, redshirting one, and then in 2018 under Mullen. He only stepped in after Feleipe Franks’ season-ending injury against the Kentucky Wildcats, and he turned into a superstar. His size and efficiency gave him a case to be the league’s best quarterback.

Against Tennessee football, Trask threw two of his picks, but he also completed 20 of 28 passes for 293 yards and two touchdowns, so in some ways, he was actually even more efficient. Also, that was just his first start, as Franks had suffered his season-ending injury a week before. As a result, he could be way better and more dangerous against UT this year.
