The Tennessee Vols depth chart leads our Sept. 23, 2020 Volunteers news.

We are now down to three days before the start of the Tennessee Vols football season. It gets more excited by the minute for fans given how long this quarantine has been, and more and more developments related to the start of the year continue to come through.

Our morning update on Rocky Top has a few of those developments in a variety of ways. A major update by the coaching staff was released on Tuesday, and it provides lots more details than such updates before previous openers have in the past, making this one a heck of a lot more newsworthy in general.

Beyond that one update, we have another story covering interviews with multiple players to get to, all of whom are expected to be starters or co-starters. However, let’s start with another story about the Tennessee Vols going through the motions as scheduled Tuesday.

Jeremy Pruitt and the coaching staff revealed numerous things about Tennessee football’s roster Tuesday, including the fact that Jarrett Guarantano is entrenched as the starting quarterback. This is the most detail Pruitt has ever provided about a UT roster ahead of a season-opener, which could be a sign of how much the program is progressing under him.

"Tennessee has released its unofficial Week 1 depth chart ahead of playing at South Carolina Saturday. Kick off is slated for 7:30 p.m. EST and will be televised by SEC Network."

Sixth-year senior offensive lineman Brandon Kennedy, sophomore linebacker Henry To’o To’o and sophomore running back Eric Gray all spoke with the media about Tennessee football’s season-opener at the South Carolina Gamecocks. Kennedy discussed offensive line chemistry. Here’s a bit of what he said.

"“I think we’ve been really good at building chemistry. It has allowed us to get different guys at different positions this year, so I think it’s been great. Our expectations going in to the first game is we want to be physical up front, and make a name for ourselves with our physicality, so that’s what we pride ourselves on with the offensive line.”"
