Tennessee football in top half of SEC Power Rankings after Week 4
Defeated Arkansas Razorbacks 37-10
What’s the story of the Georgia Bulldogs? Do we focus on the fact that they trailed the Arkansas Razorbacks 10-5 in the third quarter, or do we focus on the fact that once they decided to turn up the heat, they became unstoppable, scoring 32 unanswered points and easily scoring three straight touchdowns in that very third quarter?
You could understand them overlooking the Arkansas Razorbacks. However, with very little to go on at this point in the season, we have to put them at No. 4 in our SEC Power Rankings because they did struggle with their opponent at a time when it mattered. Those things have to matter at this point when we’re nitpicking the differences between 1-0 teams.
UGA, to be fair, didn’t have JT Daniel over the weekend, and that changed things. Also, Sam Pittman just left there, so he’s familiar with what Kirby Smart does. We should note as well that the defense remained elite against a proven SEC backfield that had Feleipe Franks and Rakeem Boyd and a proven offensive coordinator in Kendal Briles, holding the Hogs to under 300 yards.
Simply put, there were plenty of positives surrounding this team in an ugly win, so they should be fine. With the Auburn Tigers, Tennessee football, Alabama Crimson Tide and Kentucky Wildcats all up next, though, we’re about to know everything we need to about this team. It’s coming early for them this year, and they will be tested.
