Here are the keys for the Tennessee football Volunteers and Mizzou.
After making it two straight against Will Muschamp with a 31-27 win at the South Carolina Gamecocks, Tennessee football will try to make it two straight against the Missouri Tigers on Saturday in Knoxville. First-year head coach Eliah Drinkwitz brings his team in coming off a 38-19 loss to the Alabama Crimson Tide this past weekend.
Although UT is favored to win this game and get to 2-0, the Vols have to be careful. Mizzou certainly showed in the second half against Bama that it could move the ball, and Drinkwitz already proved with the Appalachian State Mountaineers that he knows how to see early success.
Taking that into account, there are plenty of factors that will come into this game. Tennessee football will have to address some of its own shortcomings while making sure the Tigers don’t play to some strengths that they did show last week.
In our keys to this week’s game, there are slightly more factors that put the ball in Rocky Top’s court, or field for that matter. However, Missouri has plenty of things it could take advantage of as well, and we will point all of those out.
With the Georgia Bulldogs up next week, suffering an upset loss here would be devastating for the Vols. On the other hand, an upset by Mizzou could send them on a great early season run, as they have a reeling LSU Tigers team next and then the Vanderbilt Commodores at home. With the Kentucky Wildcats two games later, you could see them get to 3-3 if they win this game.
What will come into play to determine that? How can Jeremy Pruitt’s team make sure such a thing doesn’t happen? Let’s go ahead and break that down here. These are the 10 keys to the game when Tennessee football hosts the Missouri Tigers on Saturday.
