Here are Dean Zulkofske’s Week 5 picks for the Tennessee football Volunteers, SEC and top 25.

With only seven SEC games to cover this weekend as Tennessee football gets set to face the Missouri Tigers, here are my predictions for the Week 5 conference and top 25 matchups. Last week, I was 8-1 straight up and 11-7 on gambling picks, including 6-3 against the spread and 5-4 on the over/under.

28. 850. 36. 840. Prediction

South Carolina +18; Over: 57

Last week, the South Carolina Gamecocks made far too many mistakes against Tennessee football, ultimately losing on a muffed punt before having the chance to score a late touchdown. They don’t make the same mistakes in Week 2, keeping this one close, but there’s no way they win. Kyle Pitts and Kyle Trask may account for another three touchdowns as this one sails over in the swamp.

10. 873. 34. 829. Prediction

Alabama -17.5; Over: 51.5

It’s pretty insane to think that after just one week of college football the Alabama Crimson Tide already look like a well-oiled machine. The Texas A&M Aggies only posted 17 points against a Vanderbilt Commodores team that should’ve probably been scored on more. They won’t do enough on their end to hoist this over. The Tide will roll to 2-0.

38. 833. Prediction. 41. 841

Ole Miss +6; Over: 61.5

Former Auburn Tigers quarterback Joey Gatewood’s transfer waiver was granted on Wednesday, giving Kentucky Wildcats Head Coach Mark Stoops a card up his sleeve heading into the weekend. No matter who starts for Kentucky, both teams are ready to put up points in Week 2. Expect very little defense to be played in this one. Former Tennessee football head coach Lane Kiffin earns his first win with the Ole Miss Rebels in late, dramatic fashion. Hotty Toddy.

842. 27. 814. Prediction. 28

Auburn +7; Over: 44.5

It looks like JT Daniels may finally play for the Georgia Bulldogs after being cleared to participate on Monday. The former USC Trojan could solve some of the quarterback issues that UGA struggled with against the Arkansas Razorbacks. Enough points will be scored by both teams to hit the over, but with Daniels on the field or not, Bo Nix will add another notch to his belt with an Auburn Tigers victory over the Dawgs in Athens.

17. 844. 59. 893. Prediction

Mississippi State -17; Over: 68.5

Is there anything to say about the Week 1 slaughter from K.J. Costello and Mike Leach that hasn’t already been said? The Arkansas Razorbacks stuck around longer than anyone could’ve guessed last week against the Georgia Bulldogs, but this Mississippi State Bulldogs offense will simply be too much. MSU wins easily in its first home game, almost hitting the over by themselves.

Prediction. 35. 817. 19. 887

Vanderbilt +21; Over: 50.5

It’s always tough when you see a three-touchdown spread and an over/under this low in college football. The LSU Tigers aren’t looking as good as people thought. Are the Vanderbilt Commodores a bit of a surprise? Is that possible? Stay away from this game at all costs. Let’s say the Commodores cover against the reigning National Champs just because it’s 2020.

839. Prediction. 21. 822. 28

Missouri +13; Over 48.5

Under new Head Coach Eliah Drinkwitz, the Missouri Tigers are looking for their first win. Though they won’t get it on Saturday, they will put up more points than most people expect. Tennessee football improves to 2-0 on the season, and while the Vols should win by two touchdowns, they can’t be trusted yet to cover double-digit spreads.
