Tennessee football: Photo gallery from Vols 35-12 win vs. Missouri
Here are moments from the Tennessee football Volunteers win against the Mizzou Tigers.
A noon game against an unranked team usually doesn’t bring a lot of excitement, but Tennessee football has learned to appreciate every opportunity to win a game given the past few years. As a result, Vols fans were thrilled with their team’s 35-12 victory over the Missouri Tigers.
Now, with eight straight wins, everybody on Rocky Top is relishing the longest winning streak among Power Five teams. That it came on Saturday with a ball-control rushing attack to overwhelm their opponent in somewhat boring fashion didn’t matter at all to fans.
In fact, fans who remember Tennessee football from the Phillip Fulmer days were thrilled with that boring fashion. It signaled a return to the sort of smashmouth football the Vols were known for in their heyday. As a result, many will want to relive that win. To do that, here are memorable photos from UT’s second win of the 2020 season.
Of course, Neyland Stadium offered some interesting photos with the way it was at 25 percent capacity. It was weird to see from an aerial view. There was pumped crowd noise in the game, but the fans were still pretty loud.
With a trip to the Georgia Bulldogs up next, the Vols are about to have an opportunity to create even greater memories for everybody. After Saturday’s game, there is plenty of reason for people to believe in the greatness and the potential of this team.
Although the Missouri Tigers are 0-2 and undergoing a transition with a first-year head coach in Eliah Drinkwitz, they have maintained their defense from last year by retaining defensive coordinator Ryan Walters. Also, Drinkwitz has proven his offenses can score at a high level early on. You can judge what happened last week against the Alabama Crimson Tide.
Simply put, there were plenty of reasons for this to look like a tough matchup, but Tennessee football controlled Mizzou from start to finish. Although there were some issues, Jeremy Pruitt’s team looked much-improved from its 31-27 win over the South Carolina Gamecocks, and they have plenty of reason to be confident when they travel to Athens, Ga. to face UGA.
