These were the best Tennessee football Volunteers against the Mizzou Tigers.

As they moved to 2-0 with a 35-12 win over the Missouri Tigers, Tennessee football cleaned up a lot of issues from its 31-27 season-opening win over the South Carolina Gamecocks. As a result, plenty of players had a good bit to be proud of.

The Vols may have faced easier competition, to be fair, but it was still indisputable that lots of the rust from the opener had been shaken off. Jeremy Pruitt’s team looks to be in much better shape as it gets set to head to Athens, Ga. and take on the Georgia Bulldogs next Saturday.

Now, there were still issues, largely due to notable absences, but Tennessee football has lots of players who deserve credit for making sure Mizzou never really threatened on Saturday. Eliah Drinkwitz’s team came close to making it a game at times, but there was always somebody to step up and stop that from happening.

Looking at the top performers from Saturday’s game, players may have made this list with just one key play in a crucial moment. After all, despite the blowout, there were about three plays that could have made this game interesting in the fourth quarter. Players who had an impact on those plays, even if it was the only play they made in the game, may warrant a shoutout.

When we dole out helmet stickers, we have a combination of those individual plays and players being effective throughout the day. We should note that the offensive performance was a team effort, so it’s hard to just name a few players, but the stat line makes clear who we should name.

So which players performed at a high level throughout the day? Who came up with the key plays in the big moments to keep the game under control? Let’s break all of that down here. These are the top five Vols players in Tennessee football’s 35-12 win over the Missouri Tigers.
