Scouting Report. 839. Pick Analysis. Defensive back. Senior. Theo Jackson. 4. player

3 tackles (1 solo), 1 interception

Continuing with our recognition of players who came up huge in crucial moments, Theo Jackson made the play to make sure Tennessee football stayed in control of the game permanently. After Deandre Johnson’s sack, the Vols scored a touchdown at the end of the first half and then on their first offensive possession of the second half to go up 28-6 and seem dominant.

However, the Missouri Tigers fought back and scored a touchdown to make it 28-12 after a failed two-point conversion. They then cashed in on the one bad sequence all day by the Vols offensive line, got the ball back and continued to drive. Because of a couple of issues in the secondary, particularly Shawn Shamburger still being out, Mizzou was throwing all over UT.

Very quickly, they moved inside the Tennessee 30-yard line, and on a 1st and 10 early in the fourth quarter, they were close to making this a one-score game. That’s when Theo Jackson came up. Jackson is a veteran who can help offset those secondary issues, and the 6’2″ 203-pound senior safety dropped back in zone for a quick pass and made a perfect interception.

After the pick, Jackson returned the ball 36 yards into Missouri territory. That set up Rocky Top’s final touchdown for the 35-12 win. You have to give Jackson credit for making such a crucial play, and something like that alone is more than enough for us to recognize him here.
