Defeated Texas A&M Aggies 52-24
If you’re asking for projections on what the Alabama Crimson Tide will be the rest of the way, we will say they’re the best in the SEC West. However, power rankings are based on how you’re playing at the moment, and while Nick Saban’s team dominated the Texas A&M Aggies this past weekend, it hasn’t proven what the other teams ahead of it have proven yet.
As a result, by the slightest margin, Bama belongs No. 3 in our SEC Power Rankings for right now. To be fair, one of the things we mentioned in the previous slide counts. Alabama beat the Missouri Tigers by a lesser margin than Tennessee football did, even if that was due to Saban and co. calling off the dogs after they had a 35-3 lead in the second half.
Blowing out Texas A&M, at this point, doesn’t look that impressive. Now, A&M does have one win, which puts the Tide ahead of the Vols. As we said, schedule strength matters. However, that one win was an ugly win over the Vanderbilt Commodores, so that doesn’t hurt Bama’s case.
This team is about to have a couple of quick chances to move up, though. After facing the Ole Miss Rebels this Saturday in what will be an epic Saban vs. Lane Kiffin matchup, the Tide face the Georgia Bulldogs in what could be the biggest regular season game of the year. As a result, this ranking could change very soon.
