Tennessee football up two spots in SEC Power Rankings after Week 5 of 2020
Lost to Alabama Crimson Tide 52-24
All this money was thrown at Jimbo Fisher, and his Texas A&M Aggies don’t look like they’ve taken one step forward this year from last year. After struggling to put away the Vanderbilt Commodores, who are 0-2 and at the bottom of our SEC Power Rankings, Fisher once again was blown out by his former boss, Nick Saban.
He may get some credit for losing to an elite team, but as of right now, A&M is near the bottom of these rankings among teams with a win. At this point, given how disastrous he left the Florida State Seminoles, you have to wonder if Fisher is just lucky he had current Tennessee football head coach Jeremy Pruitt as his defensive coordinator the year he won the national title.
That title and three straight ACC titles from 2012 to 2014 have carried Fisher a long way. He hasn’t done anything outside of that run at FSU, and at this point, and it calls into question all the hype he has received over the years. It’s not looking that good.
Also, things are looking even more dangerous coming up. Next on the Aggies’ slate are the Florida Gators. They could be in trouble if they lose that game and fall to 1-2. Now, after that, there are multiple winnable games against the Mississippi State Bulldogs, Arkansas Razorbacks and South Carolina Gamecocks, but they need a signature win with Fisher at this point.
