Scouting Report. Wide Receiver. 5. Pick Analysis. Senior. Josh Palmer. player. 839

6’2″ 210 pounds; Hometown: Brampton, Ontario (Canada)

Through two weeks, Josh Palmer has emerged as Tennessee football’s top wideout. He leads the team’s receiving group in receptions (10), yards (156) and touchdowns with one. As the No. 3 receiver last year behind Jauan Jennings and Marquez Callaway, Palmer had a few games where he stood out but was mostly unbothered as the team’s third option.

This year as a senior and leader of the group, the upcoming test in Athens will be the most important of his career. In what is the biggest game of the season so far for both the players and the UT coaching staff, expect offensive coordinator Jim Chaney to throw Palmer’s way when they look to air it out.

Georgia currently leads the SEC with four interceptions. Palmer creating separation and giving quarterback Jarrett Guarantano an open target is more important now than ever. Last week, Auburn Tigers quarterback Bo Nix was unable to find the end zone against UGA’s defense.

In fact, the Bulldogs’ defensive unit has only given up one touchdown all season. The score came on a pass to Arkansas wide receiver Treylon Burks that went 49 yards in the first quarter of their first game.

Tennessee will likely look to feed off last week’s production form the offensive line and press the running game on Saturday. However, if Chaney is looking for a big play down the field, it could be freshman Jalin Hyatt, but more than likely Palmer would be the guy they’d turn to. Watch out for No. 5 in orange to make an impact early.
