The Tennessee football Volunteers made the Oradell, N.J. four-star defensive lineman’s top six.

Jeremy Pruitt has Tennessee football trending for a 2021 defensive tackle from the same high school Jarrett Guarantano went to in New Jersey. On Monday, the Vols got a bit closer to potentially sealing the deal here.

Rocky Top made the top six for Bergen Catholic High School product Tywone Malone. A four-star across all services, Malone stands at 6’4″ 300 pounds and is a two-sport athlete, also planning to play baseball in college. He hails from Oradell, N.J., less than 10 miles from Lodi, N.J., where Guarantano is from.

In addition to Tennessee football, Malone had the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, Florida State Seminoles, Texas A&M Aggies, Ole Miss Rebels and USC Trojans on his list. He announced the schools on Twitter.

While there are no 247Sports Crystal Ball predictions as to where Malone will land, the Rivals Future Cast had the Ohio State Buckeyes as a unanimous favorite, and the Rivals Fan Future Cast had them as a plurality favorite. As a result, OSU being cut from the list opens the doors up for anybody, including the Vols.

As of right now, Tennessee football has two defensive tackles committed in its top 10 ranked 2021 recruiting class, including three-star Isaac Washington and four-star KaTron Evans. However, with six seniors in the rotation up front this year, they need to add all the help they can.

So many seniors combined with Omari Thomas and Tyler Baron seeing action early as true freshmen over the past two weeks are probably great selling points for Pruitt and his staff as well. That could really help the Vols when they are making a play for a guy like Malone.

Also, when it comes to recruiting rankings, UT could definitely use a couple more four-star commitments. The Vols have gone from having a unanimous top five class to a class in the No. 5-10 range. With 25 commitments, a few more elite prospects could get them back into that top tier.
