Tennessee football at Georgia: Five Bulldogs to watch

A big part of this game will come down to the battle of the trenches. Tennessee football and the Georgia Bulldogs both have top 25 defensive lines through two games if you look at the productivity measured by Football Outsiders. The Vols have a loaded offensive line at the same time, though, while UGA is replacing three NFL Draft picks so far this year.
They haven’t had many issues yet, but Trey Hill has been a big reason why. The preseason All-SEC offensive lineman, Smith is the anchor of the unit at center. He may be the best center in he league, and he has the best understanding of blocking schemes while having the size to be able to take out defensive linemen himself.
Through two games, while the advanced metrics favor them, the eye test suggests the Vols have had trouble getting a push up front. A couple of guys took a bit of time to be able to practice with the team, and that made them rusty. If that’s an issue in this game, the Dawgs could torch the Vols up front, and Hill could be a huge reason why.
This would allow for Zamir White to go wild. At the same time, UT relies heavily on an elite pass rush. If Hill comes through, he could make sure Stetson Bennett’s jersey stays clean for much of the night. The worst-case scenario for the Vols would be not getting any pressure from their outside linebackers, who have performed well to this point.
